For the seven senior football players, their high school football career has almost come to an end, with only three games left.
This year, the team has seven seniors:Wesley Forrester, Ryan Gibney, Noah Hulslander, Noah Kull, Garrett Lowe, Jacob Rose, Guy Shrewsbury.
The Captains for the season were: Forrester, Gibney, and Hulslander.
All of the players had a similar goal: to win as many games as possible, and with a current overall score of 3-5. District play is still a possibility.
Kull said, “I wanted to win more games than we did last year and try and make districts and just have all of us put everything we’ve got into every game.”
Head Coach Chris Grube’s goal for the season was to be over .500 and make Districts, which says is “still possible, we need to win out these next three games and we will sneak in as a 9 or 10 seed in playoffs.”
Of the seniors, some had some stand out seasons.
“Ryan Gibney, who is also a Captain for the football team, has really focused on making players and coaches accountable for this season. He is our ‘leader’ when it comes to getting players to focus at practice, and he holds all the players to a high standard,” said Grube.
Kull has been apart of the Rams football team since 7th grade, amongst most of the other seniors. But are they going to continue their career in football?
“I know college is a real time management issue, and it would just be hard to manage school work, football, as well as working to pay off college, because football now is hard to manage football work and school and just taking it to the next level will be a little bit more difficult [ but i’m debating to play in college between Towson and Millersville]” said Kull.
Although these guys have been playing since 7th grade, coach Christopher Grube became their head coach sophomore year.
His biggest worries were the administrative tasks that came with being head coach.
“…being transparent with players, communicate with parents, monitor player academics… Then on top of all of that, coach the game and put our players in the best position to be successful.” said Grube.
Although these seniors had a new coach come into their life, the outcome has turned out pretty well and has had the seniors become better players, and created a bigger family.
“I think he’s a great coach; I think sophomore year was a little rough because his first year as a head coach but it was also the player’s faults because we have to execute. But I feel very confident in him and he proves to us every year that we can and will do well.” said Kull.
“He really preaches faith, family, and football, and it hypes us up and reminds us we’re all still a family and we’re all in this together. And during football it keeps our faith; we are all family and we need to stick together, and it goes by faster than we think” said Kull.
