Bistro Closes Within a Month of Re-opening
The Bistro closed on September 30 due to the former worker quitting, and there is no information on it re-opening.
The former worker “accepted employment outside SESD that better met their personal needs,” said Director of Chartwells Karen Graham.
Students were so happy this year that the Bistro had finally been open again after being closed for three years due to the pandemic. Seniors especially were so glad it was reopened.
“I feel like it’s a big bummer, it was only my freshman year that it was open and then shut down and that now it’s my senior year here it is closed again,” said senior Cody Sherwood.
Doctor Venne is also disappointed that the bistro had to close due to a lack of workers.
“ I would like to have the Bistro open when the students are here until they leave. It gives us a positive environment,” said Venne.
Since the beginning of the school year, we have been struggling with employees taking on the position for our staffing.
Director of Chartwells Karan Graham said, “We started this school year at 77% of positions filled so we were able to open it at the time. We are currently at 65% of positions filled and are unable to open the Bistro without compromising breakfast and lunch service at KD and other SESD buildings.”
Graham has been struggling to find new workers to fill in the spots that we are missing and hopefully reopen the Bistro for the rest of the school year and more years to come.
