Artificial Intelligence

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a huge part of our word and there are so many new and fun ideas surrounding the world of AI.

It really is everywhere!

Apps like Tiktok have added AI filters that are a viral sensation. There are different trends, such as a Manga or the now trending “Bold Glamour”.

In an National Public Radio (NPR) interview, reporter Bobby Allyn noted how the “Bold Glamour” filter is a huge jump in AI technology. He said, “It uses advanced artificial intelligence. Instead of just putting a digital layer over your face, this filter completely re-creates your nose, chin, cheeks and eyes using a process known as machine learning.”

Other popular trends included Manga where people can turn themselves into Japanese comic book characters or AI Art which turns you into an anime character.

AI Face debuted a year ago and allowed users to morph into many different things by typing their prompt into a box.

Aside from the playful fun of filters, AI is being used by businesses as well.

According to IBM “AI leverages computers and machines to mimic the problem-solving and decision-making capabilities of the human mind.”

The most talked about recent AI development is ChatGPT. When we asked it what it was, here is its response:

“Hello! I am ChatGPT, a large language model developed by OpenAI. I am designed to generate human-like responses to text-based input, such as questions or prompts. I was trained on a large corpus of text data using a deep learning model, which allows me to understand and generate language in a way that is similar to how humans do it. I can answer a wide range of questions and engage in conversations on many topics.”

Businesses have found it to be a helpful tool in creating content for websites or advertisements, but there are some concerns about plagiarism.

Teachers and universities are not prepared to detect or understand whether students will be making use of this technology in the form of essays or answers to homework.

Others are concerned that this will lead to loss of jobs, which has been an ongoing concern for AI technology.

Robots are being trained to run factories and computers are running most assembly lines that humans once did!

According to Rev, there are amazing pros to AI like 24/7 accessibility, new inventions, error free processes, decision making, and speedy responses.

But there are also some downsides that not everyone recognizes, such as the fact that AI can negatively affect people.

Some downsides include a lack of creativity, increased laziness, and morality questions such as claiming a computer’s work as your own or using them instead of hiring professionals. ,

So, as you can see, AI is something that can definitely help us and make amazing things and creations like we have never seen!

But, just like everything it has its downsides.

I hope we never see the full effect of those downsides, and we use this amazing technology to the best we can, without getting out of hand with it!

I know AI and technology in general is so fun and helpful. I just hope we don’t lose touch of reality and the things we need to work together and think about!
