Do you come home to loads of homework every day? Do you need help juggling schoolwork and after-school activities? A solution to this issue could be a study hall period within the school day. Having ten classes a day is a lot to handle, especially if you are involved with sports or have a job after school. FLEX is a period on Tuesdays and Thursdays when students have free time to complete the extra homework or necessary classwork.
At South Eastern Middle School, there is what is referred to as a RAMS period, when students go to a classroom and work on projects assigned outside of the regular school day. That period relieves a lot of stress on people who have after-school activities.
This FLEX period should be held every day because students stressed out about having too much work will have that time to complete them in that period. People may think that having a FLEX period in the day can take away class time from other things that are of more importance than FLEX, but it doesn’t. FLEX only takes five minutes off the runtime of each class.
Moreover, FLEX would be an excellent advantage for teachers, as they could use this time for grading or helping other students who are stuck on work. Everyday FLEX would be advantageous to students and teachers alike, and allocating time for it to be held every day would improve the quality of life at Kennard-Dale significantly.
