Andrew Hozier Byrne, known by most as just Hozier, is an Irish born alternative artist known by most for his debut song “Take Me to Church,” which swept the world in 2014. Now, in 2024, his song from the “Unheard” EP, “Too Sweet,” has made it to the top spot on the Billboard 100. Even though Hozier has had songs here and there on the charts, like the song “Eat Your Young,” that’s the first time the artist has hit #1 on the charts. The most fascinating thing of all is that this song was originally meant to be unreleased, cut from his 2023 album “Unreal Unearth.”
“Unreal Unearth” was Hozier’s third studio album, which was heavily influenced by the classic poem “Inferno” by Dante Alighieri, where the poet gets a tour through the nine circles of hell. Hozier does a similar thing with “Unreal Unearth,” starting with a two part descent in “De Selby,” with each song after representing a circle in hell – like “Francesca” representing the lust circle and “Nth/Unknown” representing the ninth circle of betrayal – ending with the accent in “First Light.” “Unreal Unearth” peaked at #3 of the Billboard 200 Album charts and #1 for the Rock and Alternative charts.
More on the album, the Unreal Unearth Tour was throughout 2023 leading up to the new album’s release. Well, the Unreal Unearth Tour has returned for 2024, and there are shows all throughout the United States.
He’s well into the tour with each city getting its own design, plastered on t-shirts and posters people can buy to show they were a part of the tour.
Hozier will also be at a variety of music festivals while on tour, like the Boston Calling Festival and All Things Go Festival to name a few. If you’re a Hozier fan, 2024 is clearly your perfect opportunity to see him perform live.
