Terrifier 3, the threequel of Terrifier and Terrifier 2, just came out and is now in theaters. It follows the survivors of the second movie, Sienna and her brother, Jonathan, as they struggle to rebuild their lives. As Christmas approaches, they try to forget everything regarding Art the Clown; they start to feel safe in their new environment until Art returns, and he is not planning to let Sienna and her brother escape this massacre.
Fans of the first and second movies will mainly watch the sequel for the gore, and this movie will not disappoint; it is gory, bloody, horrifying, and disturbing.
Art is a silent clown, but don’t be fooled; Art is a brutal killer. Though his killing methods are seldom the same, you can bet they will always be bloody.
David Howard Thornton returns again to play Art. Thornton is the perfect actor for this role. His silence is frightening, but his facial expressions give the character personality, while also making him seem quite naive and innocent.
In this movie, Art’s reactions and facial expressions give him a humorous nature, and some of his actions may leave the viewer laughing. Some fans even call him a “diva” or an “icon.” Despite his brutal killing methods, people still love him as a character.
The director, Damien Leone, who has directed the other Terrifier movies, has also directed All Hallows’ Eve (which features a cameo of Art), The 9th Circle, All Hallows’ Eve 2, Frankenstein vs. the Mummy, Mummy is Back, and Selfie King.
Leone is a master of horror, which explains why he has such a knack for making something so pure and innocent-looking be such a monster.
Leone teased the recently-confirmed Terrifer 4 in an interview, so we should expect the saga to continue in the next few years.
The first and second Terrifer movies both end with the audience believing Art has died, but this movie leaves the audience wanting more, and the ending perfectly sets up the beginning of the fourth movie.
Terrifier 3 clears up some questions from the first two movies, such as whether Art is a demon or an immortal monster. But somehow, it also leaves fans with more questions. The movie is so disturbing that Thornton was rumored to have almost thrown up on set from discovering what would be happening in the scene they were filming.
“The gore in this movie is really cool and a fun watch, but it doesn’t have much plot,” said sophomore Juliana Jones.
Jones is correct in saying that the movie is not very focused on plot; sometimes it feels that the movie has random and pointless kill scenes to keep up the gory movie style.
Whether this movie is worth a watch or not is up to your horror movie preferences. If you watched and loved Terrifier 1 and 2 for the gore and disturbing scenes, then this movie is a must-watch, but if you wanted this movie to answer your questions and be more plot-heavy, then skipping this movie might be a better choice.
