Have You Ever Wondered What Your Life Would Be Like If You Uncovered a Shocking Inner Truth?

In the Mortal Instruments series all started with a 15 year old, New York City girl, Clary Fray visiting Pandemonium Club. While in the club, she witnessed a murder that only she could see.

The culprits appeared to be human, but they were all covered in strange tattoos with odd weapons.  Even weirder, the body disappeared, leaving a curiose audience.

Within a span of a few days, Clary is pulled into an entirely different reality with shadowhunters, fairies, werewolves, vampires, demons, and angels.

She quickly goes from being like any ordinary teenager into being somewhat of a hero. A lot of teenagers imagine themselves as special or superior in some way and that’s why I like this. Clary actually is special.

She is also pulled into the life of the charming, but stuck up, Jace Wayland. She gets mixed into Jace’s family and friends where she uncovers a world of mysteries.

Along with all of the mysteries, Clary’s mother soon disappears and she finds herself attacking a demon intruder in her own apartment. Surly and unexpectedly, Jace comes to save the day.

Clary couldn’t figure out what these creatures would want with her and her mother, which leads to a startling truth.

Somehow Clary’s life is mixed in with these charming shadowhunters (also known as demon hunters). Throughout the series, Clary continues to uncover new truths such as her actual father’s whereabouts.

This is shocking news, because in the beginning of the series, Clary is convinced her father is a dead soldier. Her mother even had a portrait dedicated to him, which she realizes later is just a random picture of a man.

Like any romance novel, Clary blindly falls in love with Jace, but you can’t identify this as “any” typical romance novel.  There’s even a period of time throughout the series where the two young lovers are tricked into thinking they are brother and sister.

You might think that such a conspiracy would make this book be considered unnatural and twisted, but it fits perfectly into the plot, since they are discovering they have true feelings for each other and they suddenly have to cut them off.

While all of this family drama is playing out, there’s a murderer on the loose, killing innocent children and recruiting people into a zombie-like army.

Clary is determined to find her inner shadow hunter in order to save her mother and stop her father.

Each problem leads into a more complicated problem, which will surely prevent the reader from being able to put their book down.

The author really allows you to feel the emotions of her characters. You find yourself as if you were living in Clary’s alternate life. You question reality and wonder, what if?

What if you found out you possessed true power? What if you realized your entire family was a lie? What if you uncovered your mother’s mysteries and you saw what she was like in her younger years?

You’re curious right? Of course you are! How could you not be curious with such a chain of events?!?
