Making Four wheelers/Dirt bikes Road Legal

Cody Joines, Reporter

I always wanted four wheelers and dirt bikes road legal.  Some people don’t have enough money to buy vehicles so they could buy four wheelers or dirt bikes.

But if you have a four wheeler or dirt bike then you have to at least put brake lights/turn signals/reverse lights/license plate and most important thing a helmet. So you don’t get in trouble by the police or get it taken away.

Some states let four wheelers road legal like Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Texas, Minnesota, Wyoming, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Montana, North and South Dakota, Washington, Michigan, Kentucky, Nebraska, Ohio, Vermont, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, Tennessee and Colorado. Click here for more details.

I think if all those states let four wheelers and dirt bikes ride on the road I think all states should let four wheelers and dirt bikes drive on the road. Because it is fun to ride them and if you don’t feel like taking a car you can take that.

My opinion on this statement is we should let four wheelers and dirt bikes drive on the road with the right equipment on. I think if you don’t have that stuff you should get pulled over and get a warning or a ticket.

Some states require All Terrain Vehicle drivers to obtain a special license for operating a sports vehicle. Like in Arizona if you drive a four wheeler you need a regular license, if you need a three wheeler you need a motorcycle license.

I think you should have a license to drive those things on the road. Some states require All Terrain Vehicle riders to be 16 years old and have a safety certificate. Other states allow kids as young as 10 to ride All Terrain Vehicles as long as they’re supervised by an adult with a valid driver’s license.Click here for more details.

All Terrain Vehicles may be driven on a highway or road if authorized to by the police when conventional motor vehicles cannot be used for transportation due to snow or other extreme highway conditions. Click here for more details.

Police are reminding all terrain vehicle drivers that riding their All Terrain Vehicle on public roads is illegal. You can get pulled over when your driving a four wheeler on the road.

If you are wanting to buy a four wheeler they are kind of expensive like a couple thousand dollars. If you want to buy a dirt bike they are not too expensive but still like two-five thousand dollars.

Me personally I would prefer a four wheeler because they are good off road and some of them are fast. Some four wheelers are two wheel drive and some are four wheel drive which is better.

So if your wanting a four wheeler or dirt bike consider these things. They are not like vehicles and much different than each other.
