A Review on Autumn!’s First Harrisburg Show

Noah Roach, Reporter

On February 19th,  I attended Autumn!’s Impeccable Qwick Stop in Harrisburg featuring a few upcoming rappers, local and not. The most famous of these was Autumn!, who headlined the show.

For a show, the location was definitely questionable. The building didn’t look like a normal venue, it was sort of run down and had no labeling for a way to tell that the concert was being hosted there.

It was smaller than I thought it was going to be, too, but there weren’t that many people there even when everyone had showed up. I’d say there was between 100-200 people there.

Another strange part about the venue was the “security”; it consisted of one decent sized guy who gave us a very dysfunctional pat-down–I’m not even sure they knew what they were doing.

The hosts led us to the stage area and then showed us around to the vendors there. It was minimal; they sold merchandise (that I did not personally buy) and food. We were some of the first people there, so it was pretty much empty when we showed up.

You could tell by the lack of energy during the openers that most, if not all of the crowd, was there solely for Autumn!’s performance. There was generally no movement in the crowd until a Chief Keef song played, and that got almost everyone in the crowd moving.

None of the rappers that performed were anything major, neither me or any people of the group I went with had heard of them. Most of them were mid at best, all of them sounded like copies of other mainstream rappers.

I think it’s good that the hosts included some local artists, but the ones selected didn’t fit the same style as the headliner. This was a problem. I think the style of rap that was being performed caused the lack of energy from the crowd.

Another thing that I think was flawed were the hosts; they didn’t know the crowd as well as they thought they did. I mentioned before the style of music they played, but I want to emphasize this again. The hosts trying to get the crowd hyped to music most didn’t listen to was sort of cringy.

Autumn!’s performance was the saving grace of this experience, you could tell that he enjoyed performing and he had a smile on his face the whole time.

He got the crowd moving pretty early and the anticipation was really high at that point.

The setlist was perfect for the amount of people there, a good mix of his popular songs and ones that don’t have as much attention.

Tickets for the show cost $28 total although some paid for a meet and greet that costed upwards of $60. I think that they were worth it. Although the entirety of the show was pretty lame besides the headline performance, overall I’d do it again.
