The Kennard-Dale soccer team has had a lot of success, winning their District and Conference titles and competing in States in recent years. This 2024 season for the boys’ soccer team was bumpy, as they lost a few starters from the previous year, but they still continued to fight. This year, the soccer team was led by Dylan Logue, Jason Blough, and Dominic Mannarino.
Captain Dylan Logue described this season as “valid.” He said, “It was overall a good year with some ups and downs, but I’m proud of how the team played, especially towards the end of the season and making it to the District Championship.”
The team started out great, going 8-1-1 in their first 10 games and looking strong. They finished the regular season 11-4-1 as one of the top teams.
County playoffs then began. The team won a thrilling 1-0 game against York Catholic, earning them a spot in the Championship. Unfortunately, they lost 3-0 to Northeastern.
In Districts, they won the first three rounds, but ultimately fell 5-1 to Conrad Weiser High School. Although they lost, the team celebrated making it to the District Championship for the third year in the last four years.
In the first round of States, the boys soccer team traveled to Radnor, PA, to play the Radnor Raptors. Their season unwillingly came to an end that night with a 3-0 loss. The loss was devastating to the Kennard-Dale players, especially the seniors, knowing that this was their last game together as a team.
After the season came to a close, Logue said, “It was valid. I had the best time of my life playing soccer here, winning lots of games and going to many playoff appearances. I will definitely miss it after I graduate.”
Logue had a very impressive career on the boys’ soccer team, scoring a season-high total of 59 goals, and averaging two or three goals per game. He was selected for York County’s Senior All-Star Team.
Next year’s team will definitely feel the loss of their senior players, but with all of the young, up-and-coming guys, the team is in good hands. They look forward to continuing their success and aiming to go even farther next season.
The 2024 soccer team gave it their all this season, working hard and making the school proud. Their effort and determination brought excitement to the students and the district, keeping us hopeful and cheering for a trophy year after year.
