It’s 2025, so new movies are coming to theaters, and there are many to look forward to. While some films may be originals, others will be sequels, film adaptations of books, and live action remakes.
“Lilo & Stitch” is the perfect example of a live action remake coming to theaters on May 23, 2025. Maia Kealoha plays the lead role of Lilo at only 6-years-old! Alongside her is best friend Stitch, voiced by Chris Sanders as the beloved character will be completely animated into the movie.
For all the horror lovers, M3GAN 2.0 comes out on June 27. The main cast of the first film will reprise their roles in this sequel. Although not many concrete details about the project have been released, fans can’t wait. From the teaser trailer, it appears that M3GAN will be resurrected in order to take down an even bigger threat: Amelia, a military-grade AI weapon. With such a match-up in store for the fans, they can only hope it will be as good as the first.
Coming 22 years after its release in 2003, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return to the screen together for “Freakier Friday.” The movie is anticipated to be similar to “Freaky Friday,” but some details suggest that Lohan and possibly someone other than Curtis will switch bodies.
In November, “Wicked” fans are excited to see the final installment of the two-part series. “Wicked: For Good,” based loosely on Gregory Maguire’s novel, will follow the plot of the first movie after Elphaba and Glinda were respectively named the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. The movie itself will come to theaters on November 21, 2025.
To round out the year, another SpongeBob movie will be coming into theaters on December 19. “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants” will have SpongeBob preparing to face off against the Flying Dutchman. The show’s regular cast will reprise their roles in the film, but fans are excited by one new change: Mark Hamill will voice the Flying Dutchman.
