There are many sports all around the world and there are certain sports depending on the season, but is there such a thing as “the” sport for a season?
For instance, fall has sports such as volleyball, football, golf, soccer, tennis, field hockey, and cross country. Winter has sports such as wrestling, boy’s basketball, girl’s basketball, bowling, gymnastics, and ice hockey. Spring has sports like softball, baseball, track and field, lacrosse, and boy’s tennis.
But what is “The” sport for each season?
According to Google “the” sport for each season is ice hockey for winter, football for the fall, and baseball for spring. On i9 sports (a sports program for all ages), in their opinion they think that the sport that is considered “the” sport is flag football or volleyball for fall. For winter time they think that basketball is “the” sport, and during the spring sport season they think that t-ball and soccer are “the” sport.
But would an average high schooler at Kennard-Dale high school think the exact same, or something different from these two different opinions?
Sophomore at Kennard-Dale High School, Aryiana Ramos played girls basketball. She stated that basketball is “the” sport for the fall season because, “It’s fun and enjoyable. There are always big crowds of people at every game no matter if it’s a boy’s game or a girl’s game.”
Sophomore softball player for Kennard-Dale High School, Loralei Gibson thinks that softball and or baseball would be considered “the” spring sport because “It’s fun and people enjoy it. Even if it’s not a school game, people go to baseball games with very big crowds and lots of excitement to be ready for the game.”
Fall sport athlete Kaelyn Stuart at Kennard-Dale High School who plays girls soccer here at Kennard-Dale high school has choosed that football is considered “the” sport for the fall season because, “It’s one of the best games people could go to especially for school games.”
Looking back at what Google and i9 sports said, Stuart and Google both said football is “the” fall sport. But i9 said flag football. Both Ramos and i9 sports said that basketball is considered “the” sport for the winter season, but Google said ice hockey. Gibson and Google both said baseball as “the” sport for the spring season, while i9 has said t-ball.
Overall, is there really such a thing as “the” sport for a season, is it all just based on your opinion, or is it based off of the sport that you play?
