The Sims 4 Get Famous Review

On November 14, The Sims 4 just released one of their most popular expansion packs, “Get Famous”, that can be purchased for 40 dollars.

The Sims 4 is a life simulation game EA (Electronic Arts) developed in 2014, and made for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Having 26 expansion packs, their newest is “Get Famous”, a pack which includes new clothing, new hair, new gameplay, and a new world, Del Sol Valley.

The expansion pack revolves around working your character’s way up the celebrity ranks and developing a reputation.

The pack includes new careers: acting, video producing, and music producing, along with new iconic hairstyles, furniture, and clothing.

Much of the furniture includes lavish animal prints and bright colors with accents of gold or silver that include matching sets, like the bathroom “swan” set, a luxurious set of bath items.

When in the acting career, your Sim can choose an acting agency and choose from several different gigs, which include different sets and scenes for your Sim to perform in.

You can choose to follow your sim or send them alone to their work if they are an actor; if you do follow them, you control which scenes they take part in and how well they do during that day of work.

If your Sim is a video maker, however, there are ways to upgrade your gear, like the video editing camera or lighting, although this requires the handiness skill.

You can purchase a video editing station where your Sim records themselves and can choose from a variety of video types to create, and once finished, can edit their videos to increase the quality.

The music making station allows your Sim to choose from different song types to compose, and allows you to later upgrade your station that will take less time to use.

When being a celebrity, there are ranks for your Sim to work their way up to: Notable Newcomer, Rising Star, B-Lister, Proper Celebrity, and Global Superstar, which is the highest rank.

If you don’t keep your Sim participating in activities, which gain them fame, their rank will very easily decrease.

Along with moving up the ranks, your Sim can earn “fame points” that is used to purchase abilities, like the ability to build friendships faster with other Sims.

With purchasing abilities with fame points, your Sim also occasionally is given negative abilities at random, like “no touching”, which means your celebrity Sim hates being touched by fans.

You can also have a reputation–depending on how you treat other Sims in the world; the reputation will either increase or decrease. There’s also a “PR Agency”, which is contacted via your Sim’s phone, where you can request a negative or positive story to adjust your reputation.

Though a well made expansion pack with things we players have never experienced, there’s many issues it appears to have that I and many others have noticed.

When using the pack in your game, it typically glitches. If you have a Sim who’s a video maker, it tells you that your character completed a 24 hour stream with a drone, a purchasable item that follows your Sim and records them, when you haven’t.

Players find this an issue because they want to fully complete the challenge of a 24 hour stream, not have the game do it for them.

Another issue that is largely irritating players is how small Del Sol Valley is.

In Del Sol Valley, there are only six new plots to build homes for your Sims, which is not enough compared to the other worlds we have available on the game.

Personally, I’m fairly disappointed with the lack of plots in our new world, Del Sol Valley, but I’m very impressed with the amount of detail put into this pack.

I find the clothing very impressive and the furniture to be perfect for representing the life of a celebrity.

As a fan of The Sims and all their games for a very long time, I want them to continue making expansions as detailed as this one; however, the glitches throughout the game concern me for future packs.
